Trent Alexander-Arnold: ‘Man City is the biggest game of the season’
The 18-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold is aiming to improve on his third-place finish in the Premier League last season
Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to be first among the youngsters in tomorrow’s England Under-17 internationals, is yet to start a Premier League match this season.
But a win against City will see him make his first start since the end of the Premier League season in a 1-0 win in the Capital One Cup against Manchester United on October 16.
And the 20-year-old has warned that City are the biggest game of the season.
“Man City are a tricky side to play against,” he said. “We have to be very strict in how we play.
“We get stuck in at home in the Premier League and find it difficult. Man City are a good side with a great atmosphere.
“They press high up the pitch and take chances – they go for the killer balls.
“It means you have to be sharp and precise from the first minute of the game.
“It’s an important game. The Under-17s play a big game against Manchester City on October 25, and that will be huge for us as a team.
“We should be very happy with our performance in the cup. We were very unlucky against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.”
The Under-17s went unbeaten throughout all their four games in the Premier League before losing 4-2 at home to Liverpool.
“We scored and created chances,” he said. “We created as much as any player in that squad.
“It was good to see that we could perform in the Premier League and against the best sides.”
